Welcome to the Automotive Applications Division Website

Our aim is to act as a single focal point for all materials engineers involved in the automotive industry. To represent their interests within the industry and in liaison with other professional bodies and Government organisations. To promote effective and environmentally appropriate use of materials to help achieve: Quality, Safety, Durability, Performance and Energy Efficiency targets.

Our mission will be achieved through the following supporting strategies:

Members
To act as the materials focus point for the Automotive Industry. To recognise members' interests and to respond to their technical and professional needs.

Institutes
To encourage and promote the interchange of new materials technology with other Institute disciplines and professional bodies to achieve professional excellence.

Industry
To develop constructive links across the automotive industry and encourage the appropriate use of materials for value engineered products for the customer.

Government
To liaise with Government Departments and provide appropriate responses to technical initiatives, proposals and position statements.

Adult Education
To develop a technically and financially successful adult learned society programme through seminars, conferences and technical publications.

Youth Education
To develop a successful youth education, interest and sponsorship programme through schools and work experience programmes.

Policy
To support the Institute of Materials general policies. To support the remit of the Industry and Technical Policy Board.
